The mission of the Seacoast Rugby Club is to create an atmosphere that brings together a diverse group of both young and mature individuals, in which they can continue in their pursuit of personal and athletic excellence through commitment and dedication to team and sport.
Club Vision
Seacoast Rugby Club welcomes athletes of all abilities and skills levels, and strives to provide them with the opportunity to achieve personal development and growth through the promotion of leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork and a social camaraderie. All of our members are able to experience a healthy competitive atmosphere that provides each individual the chance to experience an extensive mix of athletic skills, enthusiasm, and social bonds expanding over many cities and states.
Seacoast Rugby Club strives to enrich the community by offering an exciting athletic program that provides the benefits of a team sport to the greater Seacoast Area and beyond, and to make a difference within our local areas through community outreach and volunteer efforts.
Club History
Established in the spring of 1998 by a group of young women who were students at the University of New Hampshire, the Seacoast Rugby Club was the result of motivation, perseverance and a love for the game of rugby. In June of that year, the women of Seacoast Rugby welcomed a men’s 7’s team, which then expanded into a full men’s side within a year. In the fall of 1998, both the men’s and women’s teams played in their first league season in the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU), a subdivision of the United States of America Rugby Football Union (USA Rugby).
A youth program, featuring an under-19 boys’ and girls’ teams, was added in the spring of 1999, and rounding out the Seacoast Rugby roster of teams is a recreational “old boys” (over 35) team that was established in 2000. All of these teams continue to play in NERFU leagues, and continue to expand each season with players, sponsors and supporters.
